Lawrence
Artist Information
As NPR highlights, “siblings Clyde and Gracie Lawrence are not your typical pair.” From a young age, Clyde and Gracie have been crafting songs and soaking up albums by Stevie Wonder, Randy Newman, and Aretha Franklin in their family’s New York City apartment. After years of collaborating, they officially formed Lawrence, an eight-piece soul-pop powerhouse built from a tight-knit circle of childhood and college friends. Known for their dynamic, keyboard-driven sound, punchy horn section, and powerful vocals, Lawrence blends classic influences with contemporary pop energy — a signature style that has earned them a devoted and ever-growing following and a 2026 Grammy nomination!
Their 2024 album, “Family Business,” marks their fourth studio release. The lead track, “Whatcha Want,” broke into the Top 40 on the U.S. Pop Chart (their second song to break into the chart, a rare feat for an independent band!) and was featured in The New York Times as a “Song Of The Summer (Readers Pick)”, which led to performances on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, The Kelly Clarkson Show, Today With Hoda & Jenna, and CBS Saturday Morning. The album was the band’s second collaboration with Grammy-winning artist, songwriter, and producer Jon Bellion, and it was supported by their largest headlining tour to date — spanning Europe, North
America, and Australia, with sold-out shows at iconic venues including Radio City Music Hall, The
Wiltern, The Forum in London, and the North Sea Jazz Festival in Rotterdam. “Something In The Water,” a standout track from the album, earned a 2026 Grammy nomination for Best Arrangement, Instruments & Vocals for Clyde, Gracie, and their brother Linus.
Touring has always been central to Lawrence’s identity. The band has performed at major festivals such as Coachella, Bonnaroo, Outside Lands, Firefly, Bottlerock, and Summerfest, and has played shows with artists including The Rolling Stones, Jonas Brothers, Lake Street Dive, Vulfpeck, Jacob Collier, and others.
Lawrence has also built a passionate fan community through innovative and engaging video content. Their beloved “acoustic-ish” series — live, one-take reimaginings of their songs featuring expanded vocal arrangements, improvisation, and frequent guest collaborators — has become a hallmark of their artistry. The band also chronicled the adventures of their Hotel TV Tour in a 13-part docuseries on YouTube, which concluded with a fan-favorite episode celebrating the retirement of their beloved touring van, Vandy Newman, symbolizing a new chapter in the band’s life on the road.
In December 2025, Lawrence began a 12-week run performing on Broadway as part of All Out, a new show written by Simon Rich and directed by Alex Timbers. A companion piece to Rich and Timbers’ 2024 hit All In, the show features a rotating cast of comedy legends reading and performing stories about work, life, business and ambition. Lawrence is on stage throughout the show, performing songs from their discography (mostly from Family Business given its thematic overlap with All Out), as well as underscore during the stories - and even acting in a few of them!
In addition to her role in the band, Gracie’s acting career entered an exciting new chapter in 2024, when she starred as a series regular in the third season of The Sex Lives of College Girls on Max, portraying Kacey. Her acting career continued into 2025 with a Broadway musical debut, where Gracie starred opposite Tony winner Jonathan Groff in JUST IN TIME, a musical based on the life of Bobby Darin. Gracie played Connie Francis and her performance, hailed by The New York Theatre Guide as “a blazing, must-see”, earned her a Tony nomination for Best Performance by an Actress in a Featured Role in a Musical.
Meanwhile, Clyde is an accomplished composer; he has composed songs and instrumental scores for several major films and TV shows, often in collaboration with bandmate Jordan Cohen or Cody Fitzgerald. Notable projects include Hulu’s Animaniacs, Disney’s Noelle, HBO’s The Jinx, Amazon’s Landline, and the Mubi limited series Hal & Harper starring Mark Ruffalo, Lili Reinhart, and Cooper Raiff. Additionally, the music production team The Diner, comprised of Clyde, Jordan, and bandmate Jonny Koh, has created songs for artists like Jonas Brothers, Shawn Mendes, Tori Kelly, Jon Bellion, Alec Benjamin, Trousdale, and others.
Beyond creating music, the band are outspoken advocates for artists’ rights in the live music industry. Following the publication of Clyde’s widely shared op-ed in The New York Times about the unfair dynamics that artists face in the live music ecosystem, he and Jordan Cohen were invited to testify before the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee in Washington, D.C. They sat alongside other industry professionals, as well as antitrust experts, to testify about their experiences as a touring band playing in Live Nation-owned venues across the U.S. Lawrence and Cohen continue to spread the word about the challenges in the live event promotion and ticketing space in conversations with outlets like NBC News, Vice News, Politico, and more.
